PUGILATO

Starpro boxing gloves are made for people who train regularly and want kit that holds up. Every pair uses high-quality leather over solid foam padding, so they hold their shape through months of bag rounds, pad work and sparring rather than going soft after a few weeks.

Starpro Boxing Gloves for Bag Work, Pads and Sparring

Not all boxing gloves do the same job. Bag gloves are cut lighter and firmer for repetition on the heavy bag, which keeps your hands quick over long rounds. Sparring gloves carry more foam padding across the knuckles and the back of the hand, spreading impact absorption so your partner takes less of it. Most training gloves sit between the two and handle both, which is why they suit anyone doing a mix of bag, focus pads and light sparring. Nearly all pairs fasten with a hook and loop closure for a quick, secure fit, whilst competition gloves use a lace-up design for a tighter wrap that someone else ties for you.

Choosing the Right Boxing Glove Size

Boxing gloves are sized in ounces, and the number refers to the padding rather than your hand size. The range runs 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz and 16oz, all made for both men and women. Lighter weights at 8oz and 10oz favour speed and pad drills. Heavier weights at 14oz and 16oz add padding and wrist support for sparring or long rounds on the punch bag. Most adults doing general training settle on 12oz or 14oz, which covers bags, pads and light sparring without a second pair. Wear hand wraps underneath whatever you choose. They come in 2.5m, 3.5m and 4.5m, and they add knuckle protection the glove alone doesn't cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size boxing gloves do I need?
Go by your bodyweight and what you're training for. Most adults are fine on 12oz or 14oz for general work. If you're heavier than around 80kg or sparring regularly, 16oz gives you and your partner more protection.
What's the difference between sparring gloves and training gloves?
Sparring gloves have more padding spread across the knuckles and the back of the hand, because the job is protecting the person opposite you as much as yourself. Training gloves are firmer and more general purpose, built for bags, pads and the occasional light spar.
Are these gloves suitable for beginners?
Yes. A 12oz or 14oz training glove covers everything a beginner does in their first year, so there's no need for separate pairs early on.
Do you ship boxing gloves to the USA?
Yes. We deliver boxing equipment throughout the USA.
